The band names you guys came up with…. well, they rocked. I’m going to try to use as many as I can in Lovestruck Summer (I mention a lot of music in the book), so thank you for helping me write! The winner, chosen by random number generator, is…. The Book Muncher! Congratulations! Send me your address and a copy of Maine Squeeze will get to you just in time for the heart of beach read season.
51T541CANVL._SL500_AA240_.jpg Today, I’m giving away a copy of Maryrose Wood‘s fabulous and fantastical novel, Why I Let My Hair Grow Out. It’s the story of Morgan, a girl who gets dumped, buzzcuts her hair and dyes it orange, and then is sent on a bike tour of Ireland by her concerned parents. I loved watching her get more and more into her own badassness, and then delve into the forgotten fairyland of her childhood. Yeah, I know my summary makes no sense, but you just have to read it. It’s delightful. And, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say it has one of the most gorgeous covers in recent memory.
So to win Maryrose Wood’s excellent book, just tell me what book you’re reading right now… the latest on your nightstand. I’m nosey.
On mine: Girl Overboard by Justina Chen Headley. Happy Wednesday!

Well, I’m rereading Twilight, but since that’s kind of a generic answer, I’ll probably read Book of a Thousand days next.

I’m currently reading The Master and Margarita, by Mikhail Bulgakov, and Bigfoot: I Not Dead, Graham Roumieu. Have you read any of the Bigfoot books he’s done? There are three of them, set up like children’s books with illustrations and such, except that they’re kind of violent and crude and pretty inappropriate overall. But they are so so so funny, haha. (Now that I explain them, I realize that it actually might be really disturbing how much I enjoy them…)

I love Win It Wednesdays! You always have great questions and books. It’s my favorite part of the day (and So You Think You Can Dance)!
Why I Let My Hair Grow Out looks awesome! I’ve been hoping to read it! And that cover, magical for sure! That’s one of my recent favorite design trends, illustration mixed with photography.
Right now I’m reading Eclipse from the Twilight series. I’m also planning on reading A New Dawn, it is a collection of essays about the Twilight series from different writers. I gotta gear up for the Breaking Dawn release!

Oh this is easy! I’m reading Kiss Me, Kill Me by Lauren Henderson. This book is amazing! I saw it at the library and once I started reading, I got hooked. The only bad thing was that the book need a sequel. You got to read to know why. ;]

I’m working my way through the Hard Case Crime Robert Bloch double: Shooting Star/Spiderweb. I love having a book I can just flip to read another novel. This is a concept that should totally make a return. Both novels are 50s Hollywood crime and mayhem – good brisk reading.
My daughter and I are reading Adam Rex’s The True Meaning of Smekday out loud. So far, it’s been hysterically funny.

  8. Liviania says:

I am reading The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff
for the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. It’s part historical (about Brigham Young’s 19th wife who brings attention to the polygamy problem) and part modern day murder mystery where a “lost boy” tries to help clear his mother (herself a 19th wife) from murder charges. I’m 150 pages in and it’s really good so far!
    It comes out in August.

There’s no space in my room for a nightstand, so I have to reach across from my bed and and put whatever I’m reading down before curling up under the covers.
So in that ever-growing pile of books includes:
    - Farworld
    - I Was a Teenage Popsicle
    - The Red Queen’s Daughter
    - Dumped by Popular Demand
I’m always tempted to start more, since there are so many books that sound amazing! :)

  14. Gabrielle says:

I liked Maryrose Wood’s book. The Irish commentary was hilarious, but my favorite part was at the beginning when she describes how her boyfriend treated her. She says that he drew a map of her that didn’t make sense… I thought that was poignant.
Right now? I’m reading Sarah Mlynowski’s “Bras & Broomsticks,” David Yoo’s “Girls for Breakfast” and re-reading “My Most Excellent Year” by Steve Kugler for the third time this week. We’re interviewing him over at Innovative on Saturday; definitely check it out! He’s insanely cool (as is his book), especially neat for Broadway geeks like myself.

  15. Renee says:

Im kind of stalling right now actually :-p Im suposed to be reviewing a book for Simon Pulse’s PulseIT board. Amazning, they send you free books and you only have to read it! But this one isnt really my thing, its nonfiction, how to deal with stress. And while everybody has that I dont need to read about it :-p So Im going back through some of my favorites and reading the best parts. Such as Twilight and Eclipse by Stephenie meyer, Major Crush by Jennifer Echols, Wake by Lisa McMann and a few others :-) And now I think Im going to go talk my grandpa into driving me to the book store so I can add some more to that list :-)
