Double Win-It Wednesday: Copper Sun and Incarceron
There's still time to enter last week's contest over at Tera Lynn Childs's blog (it ends 2/28). And this week, because I missed a week, I'm giving away two books.
The first is Copper Sun by Sharon M. Draper. We've been discussing it all month long at readergirlz (see the discussion questions in the top right corner to get a taste of the themes you'll encounter in this amazing, award-winning historical novel).
The second is an ARC of Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. It's a fantasy about a prison with many levels--metal forests, old cities, huge wilderness. And, of course, our hero wants to escape. Well, here's the trailer:
One winner will get both books. I kind of like the idea of mixing genres like this in a book collection. Just comment below and say hi -- I'm a pushover this week. If you have a blog, tell me what you blog about. I'll visit!
Happy Wednesday!

Hope your drive to VT goes ok. I've heard good, creepy things about Joe Hill's books.

Hey Melissa, have fun in Vermont! I am an avid horror reader, and I LOVE Joe Hill books. They are definitely scary, but they didn't give me nightmares or anything... What book did you DL?

My blog keeps track of the progress I'm making on the Library Mission. The Library Mission is a project that is bringing a library to La Chureca--the city dump of Managua, Nicaragua. Yeah. I also have a personal blog where I post poems, songs, and general blog posts about things going on in my life.

Hi Melissa,
Hope you have a good trip. We have a blog (http://www.choosewhat.com/blog) that focuses on small business resources and tools. Both novels you mentioned sound like great reads.

Ooh, they both look so fantastic! I've heard so much about Incarceron being great, and I've heard Copper Sun is very intense, too.
I have a blog called YA Book Queen, where I review YA titles (with some MG/Adult mixed in every now and then), and I also host interviews with YA authors + giveaways. The blog is definitely my second favorite hobby (after reading!)
:)

I usually blog everyday over at Sarahland; It usually revolves around boys because I fail at the whole dating thing and I tend to be a flirt; Plus, boys are confusing and I'm always in need of advice.

I just got myself on LJ two weeks back. It holds me accountable on the progress of my WIP and I'll hopefully add lots of fun bits to it.

Ohmygosh! Guess what?!
Our school library wrote up a survey for all our high school students asking us what books we wanted to see on their shelves. Of course I wrote dow your name (and several other authors) and this morning I saw your books on the shelves! I was so excited because it was purchased only a few days ago, and already three people checked it out! It's even cooler because their is a few people on the waiting list, too!
:O)
Love, Hannah

I don't blog, but LOVE "Copper Sun." Because of the subject and Draper's accessible style, I don't see why more schools aren't buying up mass quantities of this to hit Social Studies and English Language Arts standards. Now, I'm itching to read "Incarceron," thanks to good buzz.

I have a new 'quick reads' book blog where I review books that can be read in a single sitting. These two look like they might be good contenders!

The cover of INCARCERON (if only I can spell the darn cover correctly without triple checking it)is gorgeous! Reminds me of this other cover though Dark Secrets (?).

Incarceron is on my wishlist but this is my first encounter with Copper Sun. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
My blog is pretty much in a coma at the moment but you can always check out what I was up to in the summer of 2006

Hello! *hah, I'm different*
I do actually have a blog, but since I'm choosing to be mysterious--possibly lazy--I will just say that I review books. Will not say what type, I'm that mysterious, hope you do check it out though: http://lilibethramos.blogspot.com/
Hopefully, the first you'll see won't be my squee-fest over Gayle Forman coming to Florida. Oops gave too much away...

Super awesome giveaway! Both books sound good.
I have a blog reviewing both MG and YA lit. I teach 7th grader, so my students cross over both.
