Bonus Cover Stories: The Babysitters Club Redesign
New Babysitters Club covers... what do we think?
vs. the old?
(I couldn't find the original Stacey cover for some reason--sorry!).
I'm torn. I like the simplicity of the new, but my heart is with the old painting-style covers. Of course, this is for a whole new generation... thoughts?

The new covers are so cute, but I still totally prefer the old ones.
Of course, I'm one from the old generation, so it's only natural I'd think that.

Gotta be the old. They're way cooler. I assume I'm from the old generation too (25? is that already old?) but I remember loving the old covers of my best friend's Babysitter Clubs book cos they looked so old and grown-up and fashionable, just like I so wasn't :D
These say more, "Hi! I'm cute and smiley and am probably aimed at 5-8 year olds!"
...Not so cool. To me, at least. :)

I love the old, but I can see why the change. Girls today would look at those covers and be like what are they wearing? What is that phone coming away from their ear that has a cord on it?! :D

I'm going with the old. I don't like the new ones at all! They don't even give a feel for the group, a cupcake does not represent Babysitters Club to me at all! I know it relates to the story, but BSC was the one exception I had to having "people" on the covers. I liked it.
Oh, well. I'm probably just an old crotchety lady thinking this way. Back in MY day.. heh

I like the old cause the girls look so cool and fun - makes you want to be part of the club. The new ones are too generic and boring.
They could have easily gotten new models and put them in cute, trendy outfits and re-created the original covers. I think that would have been really cool.
But, of course, I read them the first time around so I'm old. :)

I don't hate the covers as much as most people seem to (from what I've seen on other sites), but they're definitely not the greatest. Maybe it's just because I have all the old cover ones and I adored them when I was younger, but the new ones definitely seem pretty baby-ish. Although, I'm not a fan of pastel in general... anyway, I just think it's awesome they're being re-released.

That would be a #coverfail right there. The "Babysitter's Club" font is all wrong too. Nooo!

Definitely the old ones! The new ones just don't grab me at all.

Meh. I would have liked to see something photographic for these a la Barrie Summy's I SO DON'T DO... series, or the Leslie Margolis BOYS ARE DOGS/GIRLS ACTING CATTY books. BSC are sassy girls, and they need sassy covers!

I still favor the older covers, but the new ones do look more like the covers of other books today. The bright colors seem more popular for the middle grade novels.

Younger kids today would probably pick up the new covers over the old ones, but I still love the old ones. I can't imagine getting one of the new copies.

I really prefer the new covers. I liked "seeing" an artists visual of the BSC members I guess. I mean, a phone?? That just seems boring to me.

I like the old covers-they were what I grew up with and the new covers don't really tell you about the story and they're a little bland and boring.

I like the old covers!
When I'm at the library and have nothing to read, I usually pick up the older looking books. It's probably just a Hannah thing, though.

I'm all about the old covers!

Totally prefer the old covers. The new ones look sorta unfinished. Kind of reminds me of a kids design your own book cover assignment.

I like the originals. I'm sentimental.

Originals! They are a million times cooler. Lis is right, the new ones do look unfinished.
I loved the BSC. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I do, and I don't think I would pick up the new ones.

Definitely NOT the OLDER covers. I work at a library and I cannot get girls to LOOK inside the books once they see the cover. We even have a babysitting basics workshop with a huge turnout. When I suggested a club to read the books, the girls seemed interested until I pulled out the worn books.
The NEW cover ideas are close to what you need. I think just a look alike of Taylor Swift would work. The phone has to be a cell and not with the holes to DIAL.

I like the only ones mostly because I grew up with them. But for today's generation, they're too retro - so the simplicity of the new ones is great.

I think with the "new generation" the covers will appeal more especially with the fashion on the old ones. But I grew up on these books so I'm still about the old covers and even the re-do they had in the early 90s (which is what most of my books look like). I wish they could at least kept the old block font though. did they really have to boot out even the font?
