Win-It Wednesday: How to Steal a Car by Pete Hautman
I'm giving away an ARC of this book by National Book Award winner Pete Hautman. It's about Kelleigh, a girl who--when bored, sick of her family and wishing she had a different kind of life--starts stealing cars. So, you know, the title's pretty accurate.
Just tell me in the comments what your favorite gift--given or received--was this holiday season. Then you're entered to win.
I think my favorite was the copy of A Crooked Kind of Perfect by Linda Urban that I gave to my niece. I read it right before I wrapped it--I had to! It was really good.

Wednesday night, I'm at my parents' house, and Dad & I are channel-surfing. I see that Ballet Shoes--the 2008 version with Emma Watson--is on, and I squeal, since I LOVED the book as a child and Netflix didn't have it last I looked. (They do now.) But the movie had already started, so I told Dad he could watch his NCIS and I would just wait until I was able to watch it from the beginning.
Well, it showed up under the tree Christmas morning. Turns out, "Santa" went out on Christmas Eve solely in search of the movie.
:)
Considering we decided to not really exchange gifts this year (I am unemployed & everyone's hurting) this was just an extra touch of what Christmas is all about ...

The best gift I got was definitely a GPS TomTom for my car. I always get lost, so now hopefully I'll manage to keep myself on track ;)

My favorite gift was the fact that my family actually got along all day on Christmas. Usually we are good for a few hours, then the nitpicking starts and it starts to get a bit ugly.
Other than that one of the nicest gifts I got was a pair of mammoth crocs from a friend of mine. I love crocs and she got me some for the winter!

I gave my friend a signed copy of The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan, and I got a signed copy of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.

My birthday is eleven days before Christmas. The best gift for that was my brand new TV! For Christmas, I loved giving my mom a cute new purse and 2 new wallets!

My boyfriend and I got my boyfriend's sister and husband a gift certificate to their favorite local restaurant, a gift certificate to the movies, and wrote them a note saying that we would baby-sit their one-year old so that they could have a real date together. I loved the idea of giving them some time together, and as an added bonus, getting to hang out with my boyfriend's wonderful nephew!

My dad woke up all of my family, piled us into the car and drove off. A few hours later (and a few cups of coffee later) we unpacked and realised that he had taken us skiing on Christmas Day. It was a lot of fun and almost nobody was there.

I finally have a good amount of money this year, so I was able to actually get my family and friends good gifts this year which made me really excited! My favorite gift I gave was a BluRay player for my dad, which he really liked =D

We didn't really exchange presents this year but I did receive the Star Trek DVD, which made me very happy.

My mom gave me a boxed set of Sarah Dessen books! I haven't read any of her books so I was thrilled when I got it! :)

my favorite gift i got was a wizard of oz pez dispenser collection. the movie is my favorite movie in the whole world since i was a little girl and my mom bought those for me i felt like crying lol. but i think the best part of my christmas was giving my mom a photo album i made for her of old pictures i dug out of her closet and she looked through them all and was crying and just knowning that i gave her something that made her happy was one of the best gifts i could ask for. i think i would give all my gifts away just to know that she is happy. she is the best and deserves it all

Just found your blog...Will continue to visit...Santa gave my nine year-old a copy of the first Leven Thumps book. Halfway through the book, I asked her to tell me about it. Hmmm...I proceeded to stay up late three nights in a row until I finished the book. Thanks for the present, Santa! ;)

I gave my brother, Joshua, a giant gummy bear and an even bigger stack of books to keep it company. He's got seven books to work on, and he better move fast because I'm reading them next... :o)
My favorite gift that I received was a bag of colorful hair extensions. My hair has been a different hair color every day for the past week! So fun!

My little sister gave me a snow globe that had her pictures in it! Its really neat and will be a great way to remember her once she moves away next year.

my favorite gift that i got this christmas was a new dvd player, the one i had broke and my mom bought me a new one. i am so happy because now i can watch all my favorite movies during my holiday break. overall it was a pretty good christmas!

My best gift was that my three children who live in Australia were able to return home to Sri Lanka for Christmas. Quite an expensive gift but worth every cent.

My favorite gift was my Gone With the Wind Movie 70th anniversary gift set, but I gave that to myself so it doesn't really count.
But my parents bought me a GPS so that was lovely :)

I am getting a nook, the new eBook reader from Barnes and Noble...my sweet hubby preordered one and then amazingly kept a straight face as I talked about it ALL winter break. When I opened the gift box with a certificate in it saying it was coming on Jan. 11, I freaked out!

I student whom I don't teach brought me a box of oranges and chocolate, just because I mooched a bit of each from her a few days before. It was so thoughtful and spontaneous - something true of too few gifts.
