This week, I'm still giving away Violet Book Party SWAG. So remember, you have a chance to win a fully packed gift bag if you enter The Big Contest by Sept 1st. Rules here. One gift bag donor was a new line of t-shirts called JUST BE, and their graphic designs are totally cute (Be Fabulous, Be Beautiful, Be Muddy, Be Organic, etc). The photo is of the two t-shirts you can win in this contest--Be Sweet and Be Funky. I'll choose two people to each win a shirt.
So here's how you win: Comment below and tell me what you would "just be" if you were fully yourself. I think I would "Be Passionate" because I love it when people are really into things--photography, fashion, public service, chemistry, their love lives--whatever! I'm into enthusiasm. So tell me what you'd be.
As a third prize this week (same comment entry method), I'm giving away a copy of Fireworks, a collection of four summer stories by Niki Burnham, Erin Haft, Sarah Mlynowski and Lauren Myracle. This book totally quenched my thirst for summer love tales, so I wanted to give it away while it's still warm outside and you can read it in season. I bought this book as a direct result of a review on Read, Read, Read, so check that out to see what it's all about.
Now, I'm also on a blog tour this week with the Girlfriend Cyber Circuit, so you'll see me linking to a few interviews. Up now are the interviews below, and you can win extra entries by commenting there. I'll be checking those and adding up your entries so visit these authors' sites as well and click around--they are all cool women.
1. Saving Zoe author Alyson Noel asked totally hard (but fun) questions in her interview.
2. Megan Kelley Hall, who shared her fantastic Cover Story about Sisters of Misery with me last week, hosted an interview where I talked about my writing sisters (which include guys, but only a couple).
3. A chat with Dollar Daze author Karin Gillespie, who interviewed me about Violet in Private!
PS-Thanks to mybkclub.com for the reviews of Violet on the Runway and Violet by Design! (I don't think you can comment this one.)
PPS-Just a reminder that at 9pm on Thursday night, I'll be chatting live with readers on the readergirlz forums. Pencil it in if you can come!

My Just Be would be: Be Silly! Yay!

Be eclectic or-- be weird. I can't make up my mind!
Posted by Karin | August 27, 2008 10:19 AM
Be comfortable. Everyone just needs to be comfy in their own skin, as well as their clothes, life, etc.
Posted by Ink | August 27, 2008 12:51 PM
I'd say...
Be Quirky.
After all, everyone has their own little twists and tricks.
And I definetely have alot ;)

If you hadn't already said it, I'd use "Be Passionate." My alternative, though, is "Be Proactive." People always complain. About their jobs, about where they live, about the government, about everything. But most people don't actually try to do anything to change what they dislike about their lives and the world! So I value being proactive, and making things what you want them to be rather than sitting around and whining about what you don't like.

I think mine would be: Just be happy, because everybody deserves to be happy. We should appreciate what we have got as opposed to what we may wish we had, especially as others may be in a worse-off situation than us. After all, science tells us that by smiling (which you'd do if you were happy), our mood is automatically elevated ;)
Goodluck everybody!

I'd be: "Be Colorful."
Because I very much am! :)

If i were fully myself , I'd Be Powerful. But we can't go around scaring the mortals can we?
Posted by Mary Jenkins | August 27, 2008 4:47 PM
Mine would be "Be Original" because originality is something i really appreciate.
or "Be Authentic" because no one likes a phony

Be Unique
Do what you love doing in your own way, don't give in to peer presure, find yourself, don't be defined by others.
I'm still trying to find my unique-ness=)
Posted by Irene | August 27, 2008 7:30 PM
Darn someone already used 'Be Quirky'.
My other Just Be would be 'Be Exceptional'. Don't worry about stereotypes or obstacles or what others think, just be yourself and shoot for the stars. Because when you believe fully in your abilities people can tell and they want to help you reach where you want to go. (Hope I don't sound too corny, but hey the truth is the truth ^^)
Posted by Jessica | August 27, 2008 7:51 PM
I would've used Be Passionate too!
So I'll go for Be Proud. Be proud for who you are and what you do. You may not have everything you want in life but be proud of what you already accomplish and work from there!

Be Yourself. I think that is most important to me. It doesn't matter what people think of you. It only matters what you think of yourself. It's cool to be you.
Posted by Claire | August 27, 2008 9:16 PM
Be DIZZY.
Be a whirl of colors of everything, spinning insanely through life...Make people crazy, make em spin, just make it insane, crazy and a blast.
;}
Posted by Stephanie | August 27, 2008 9:17 PM
Be kind.
It's a little lame for a slogan, but if I got restricted to one quality it's what I'd choose. People tend to undervalue kindness, but you can get a long way just by treating people well.
Posted by Liviania | August 27, 2008 9:41 PM
I would say...Be Brave. Just because I tend to chicken out of a lot of things and it would be nice to be able to just go and do it.
Posted by Cyndi | August 27, 2008 11:08 PM
Just Be Relaxed
because there is way too much rushing around and worrying about time in the world now which makes everyone stressed and self-centered.
Posted by pepsivanilla | August 27, 2008 11:48 PM
Be Loud
Let your feelings show, don't let them huddle inside, which kinda what I do.
Posted by Kelsey | August 28, 2008 10:50 AM
Those Tee's look so cute, i'm definately entering. i would:
Juse Be Smiles.
i think being happy is like the key. if you're happy, truely happy, nothing can bring you down and you have the power to achive everything you've always wanted. Just Be Smiles and nothing can go wrong.
Posted by nadine-stella | August 28, 2008 4:48 PM
I think mine wold be "Be Creative" because I am creative (most of the time LOL) and I think it would rock if everyone was more creative.
Posted by Ren | August 28, 2008 7:12 PM
I would say "Be True to Yourself". Don't be afraid of what others may think. And don't be a lemming, following the crowd just because it is perceived to be cool.
Posted by Angie-la | August 29, 2008 2:22 PM
I'd probably be "Be Open" because I think it's important or you could miss out on a lot and if you're narrow minded, it could lead to misunderstandings and disagreements.
If people were open-minded, this world could be a more peaceful place. People have different values and traditions, and to think that your own ideas and way of life is the only way to go and that everyone that's different is below you is just arrogant, and can be a cause for conflict. So if we're all a little more open-minded to new ideas, we could probably live a little more harmoniously and learn a thing or two that we could end up liking a lot! :)

Be Confident.
People tend to doubt themselves, so that they're not confident enough to be themselves, to be passionate, to be unique, etc. =D
With so many people suffering from self-esteem issues, I think being confident will really change your life as long as you're not overconfident.
You need to believe in yourself before others can.

Be Happy
Being Passionate was also won I would like to be because like yourself when i'm into something i'm into it with my whole heart and mind. But I just love being happy. When i'm happy everything goes right and I get the fullest potentail out of relationships, decisions and life all around.

Mine would either be...
BE PROVOCATIVE.
or
BE FLAWED.

I've already posted one option, Be Confident, on your MySpace blog...but seeing that somebody else has come up with that one, I'm going to give it another go...
Be Nice
How you treat other people is so important. You never know when you might be able to brighten up somebody else's day with something as simple as a smile or friendly wave. And when you're nice to others, you'll definitely feel better about yourself too. What goes around comes around, so spread some positive cheer!

My Just Be would have to be, "Be Me". I know, I know, kinda boring; but I think that one of the most important things in life to be, is yourself. I don't think you should ever have to pretend to be someone else just to get someone to like you. Be yourself (or in my case, Be Me), and life will be a lot easier. I think people can see through it when people are being fake. I also think that if someone doesn't like you for you, then why would you want to be friends with them?
My other Just Be, would be, "Be Fashionable". I'm very into fashion (and it doesn't hurt that the Just Be shirts are SUPER cute and SUPER fashionable), so I think that would represent myself well.
Thanks Melissa! Have a great day!
xoxo,
Ali
