The Barefoot Contessa and Me
Just look at her admiring the bread! She loves bread! I love bread! She loves Paris! I love Paris! I'm slightly obsessed with Ina Garten, the happy Hamptons homemaker on The Food Network's Barefoot Contessa. Is that weird?
I love her house, which I know is not weird, because it's gorgeous and at the beach and has a manicured garden. I love her recipes, because they seem not too hard and one day I'll try making one. And when I got engaged this year, I immediately registered for the exact things she has in her kitchen (KitchenAid mixer, that shiny Le Creuset dutch oven) just so I can be like her.
I also dream of one day hanging out with my gorgeous and witty gay boyfriends like she does often at mealtime when Jeffrey (her husband of 39 years!) is stuck at work in Manhattan. Oh, and I want to look this freckled and young when I'm her age (she must be 60, right?).
Anyway, I'm rambling, but do you guys ever watch the Food Network? I find it oddly soothing, at least with certain chefs.
Ina, I would love to have dinner with you in the Hamptons. Please call me!
PS-Today is the final day to enter for last week's "Win-It Wednesday." Go here!

well, i'm not a fan of anyone on the food network, but i love gordon ramsay. not in hell's kitchen, i believe in that they crop him out as a simon cowell.
but in ramsay's kitchen nightmares or the f word he's totally a different, likable person. and he has the cutest kids.

I just had a long conversation about ole TBC yesterday!

OMG! Hilarious post! I agree with you on all counts. I have several of TBC cookbooks. I've attempted one or two recipes and you're right--they're not too difficult. I think her cheesecake is quite good. I also tried to make her noodle kugel (it's a Jewish thing) and, well, surprisingly not so much. Major bummer. :(
My SIL is also obsessed with Ina and simply refers to her by the pet-name "Barefoot."
On a final note: I have the KitchenAid Mixer AND the Le Creuset dutch oven. (Incidentally, my favorite show is THE SOUP on E!--and you must check out this segment about a cooking show called Dutch Oven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fh2wwDU010. But I digress :-). We don't use the KitchenAid much at all, but the Le Creuset is amazing.
Wow. I can't believe I'm yammering on about this. I can't believe I just said yammering. I think I'm sixty now...if only I looked as good as Barefoot. :)
XO
PS: The Food Network and The Fine Living Channel are two favorites around these parts!
PPS: Violet in Private is almost here! WOO HOO!

I like The Barefoot Contessa and some other programs, but I really dislike Rachael Ray and my ex-roomie hated Giada with a passion. We mainly stuck to the Travel Channel.

Hah! I'm obsessed with Ina Garten, too, Melissa! My mom, sis, and I are all ga-ga over her. I especially love her house (and that kitchen!).
