Win-It Wednesday: The Year My Sister Got Lucky and Shoe Stories
Last week's prize was a copy of Siobhan Vivian's excellent debut novel, A Little Friendly Advice. And the randomly chosen winner is... Karin! K, send me your address!
This week, I'm giving away a copy of Aimee Friedman's The Year My Sister Got Lucky. It's a really heartfelt tale of the friendship between sisters, and the perspectives that define who we are... and how we can change. It's a great read!
The contest this week is based on shoes. That's right. In honor of the 100th birthday of Converse (which, I have to say, are still my favorite shoes), I have a question for you: Tell me about your favorite pair of shoes. It doesn't matter if you love them for comfort, style, or a memory of a moment while wearing them--I just wanna hear about it! One random commenter will be chosen to win Aimee's book.
I'm heading to NC tomorrow to visit East Regional Library in Knightdale and then do the Dirty South Improv show described at left in Carrboro (and, of course, to watch my Tarheels kick some ass).

While my favorite type of shoe would have to be flip flops. I love feeling the air on my toes and just letting my feet be open. My favorite pair of shoes would be my Rainbows (flip flops of course!). They last forever and are just so comfortable. They melded to my feet immiediatley and I haven't taken the off since!

i just got the most amazing pair of wedge heels in this gold snake skin print
there tottaly gorgeous
i might where then tommorow so u can see them
i think they might be lucky too
and the thing is i got them at goodwill
but my fav shoe will always be converse sneakers
i love them!!!!!

Though I do love red Converse hightops, my current favorite pair of shoes are my black VANS with white skulls all over them. Comfort. Coolness. They make me feel like a kid again.

My favorite shoes are my Vans, which are a diamond pattern in blue and light brown. They're really comfy and even though they have a crazy pattern they go with just about anything!

My fav pair of shoes are probably my Converse. they're black and kinda boring, but i've had them forever and i love them.
or my flip flops of course....

my favorite shoes are for sure my slippers!!
I'm a 'comfort is key' kind of person and they are not lacking in comfort...they are black with a big pink rose on the front. As a runner up pair, I'd choose my Reef flip flops or my grey Converse high tops, they are comfortable too!

My fave pair of shoes isn't exactly shoes. It's a pair of gold kitten heels which my best friend's mother bought for me when we went shopping. I always remember that day because my best friend and I were watching the Bratz movie and when we came out of the cinema, we got lost. XD
*cross fingers* I hope my luck is better today, I've never won anything before! And I LOVE Aimee's books. =)

Love Converse. My favorite shoes are any that I can slip on and forget. I can't stand the feel of shoes on my feet. I'm a terrible girl like that.

I don't know how someone can possibly like.. shoes. It's totaly random! Al shoes look the same.
I guess my favorite pair is my horse-back riding shoes, because I really enjoyed horse back in summer camp.. Havn't been riding since I was 8, though

I have the most amazing pair of red leather heels. The heel is slightly chunky, with a peep toe. The best part? They attach at the ankle with a big red button. So cute. They're pretty much the most awesome pair of shoes ever.

Whenever I was younger, I had this pair of wedge sandals that were white and blue checkered. I loved those things so much! I would wear them everywhere. Eventually, the straps broke because I wore them way too much, and I had to get rid of them :[

My favorite shoes? Probably my black Old Navy flip-flops. Those probably don't count as shoes, but I really LOVE my flip-flops. I especially love it when it's actually warm enough outside to wear them!!!

My favorite shoes are my Puma soccer cleats. They're supposed to make me run faster because they're really light. I've only used them in indoor so far and on Sunday I get to play my first outdoor game with them. I'll probably end up tripping but I do that all the time anyways. They're really amazing. I think I love them actually but I get that way about all my cleats!

well, i have size 11 feet so its hard to find shoes that i LOVE. so i was singing at my friend's graduation last year and i got the nicest red shoes. they were comfy along with pretty. i'd wear them everyday but they don't fint anymore :(

I'm so not a style girl, but I used to have these incredibly cute faux-Converse brown and pink sneakers. They were adorable and cute and it looked like they had a heel even though they didn't.
I completely loved them. And then my cousins' dog chewed them up and I continued to wear them right up until the sole on one of them actually came off so much that it was just as useful walking around in stocking feet.

Your hair looks so prettyful! In that last photo you look like Rachel Leigh Cook- except happier! Favourite shoes? Hmmmmm... Hmmmmm... I guess it has to be my fuzzy blue hippos slippers! I even named them Zachariah and Sebastian! (Zach and Seb for short). They are reeeally warm, the grip is amazing and they fit perfectly! And they are so adorable! When I walk down the halls wearing them, my floormates are like 'what?', but I reckon its just coz they're jealous! :P (But that's mostly the guys. The girls think it's cute- they have animal slippers too)

Its a tie between my Osiris skater shoes and my red 20's style pumps with the red strap across my ankle. The pumps were surprisingly comfortable!
Also - I read Violet by Design yesterday. It was great!! I can't wait for Violet in Private. If Chloe really existed, I'd punch her in the head. ;]

Over the past couple of years, I've had many favorite shoes. I have to admit though, my most favorite of them all would have to be these cloth flats from American Eagle. They're this really nice navy blue, and the cloth is so soft. The inside is super comfy too, so I can stay standing for two to three hours without feeling a thing. They're awesome ^_^.

My favorite shoes are my flip flops. My mom and best friend made me count all of my shoes one time... and they totaled up to sixty pairs. But over half of them were all my flip flops. I guess you could say I'm shoe obsessed. Whenever I see flip flops coming out, I HAVE to get them. Even though, most of the time my mom tells me no because I already have too many shoes. I'm one of those flip flop wearers who wears her flip flops all through the winter - even here in Michigan sometimes I wear my flip-flops in the wintertime. (Yes, I do get called crazy a lot :D) Okay. I'll stop rambling about my flip flops now because I'm sure you have better things to do! lol. :p

Anyway, My favourite pairs of shoes, happen to be converse. Their White, which blue stripes here and there...and since the majourity of the shoes are white, I got all my friends to write or draw or just doodle-daddle on my shoes...and now they are officially, my favourite shoes.

My favorite pair of shoes aren't even mine (though I did trade them once with my friend, we walked around in the others shoes all day.) They're this pair of black Converse with rainbow stars all over them. Why do I love them?

My favorite pair of shoes are my UGGs. I went skiing last week and by the end of the afternoon, my feet were cramped into such painful balls I could hardly pull them out of my ski boots. Then I put my tootsies in my UGGs and they were so soft and cushy--complete heaven.

This has eaten so many of my comments. And one of them was really long - what can I say, I love shoes.
Let's just describe the pair I wore to day. White, glittery nikes with blue, yellow, and red stipes. Happy, cute, and functional.

I did have one question about the new Violet book: In one review, it said once she was in SA they called her "gordita" because of her weight. But in Spanish-speaking countries, gordo/gorda/gordito/gordita literally mean "fat one" but they're used as terms of affection. Okay, that's not exactly stated as a question, but I was just wondering about it.

Okay, and also, I'm all about the Converse (and the flip-flops). In fact, I have a pair of black velvet low-tops that are falling apart but I still love them. I recently received a pair of the laceless Converse low-tops for my bday...and they are so comfy. (Incidentally, what does everyone think of the Converse ONE-STAR Target brand?) Okay, and I can't live without my Doc Martens. I once traveled around Europe in a purple pair--in the summer heat. My feet never quite recovered. My mom still hassles me about that, and comments whenever I still wear Docs. (How OLD are you? You're still wearing those things? What is WRONG with you?) She makes me laugh. xo
