I've always liked living now. I'm a modern conveniences kind of girl - my fondness for bathing, in particular, prevents me from wishing to live in a large number of eras. It just seems like each time period has its problems, but I don't mind living with those in ours because I'm already living with them.

Wow, I've been looking forward to reading this one for a looong time! I'm glad you liked it!

I've always loved historical ficion (one of the few genres of books avaliable in my small parochial school, but I went through a colonial era phase when I was younger. I loved any book that was set in that time, and Felicity (the American Girl doll) was my best friend. Some of my favorite books are set in that time period. I don't know what it is...something about the American Revolution and fighting for freedom just gets me unbelievably excited.

Hmmm... I LOVE living in this era. Technology, equality, and advances in storytelling are some major perks. If I had to pick a past era, I'd like to live in the feudal times. Lords and Ladies and such. Not at the beginning of it though, but at the end of the era, where everything was more modern.

i would love to live in the victorian times (like a jane austen character) or in the 30's ( with 42nd Street(musical) like dresses. and i would love to live in the 50's to with those lovely soda shops indeed!

Haha, I'm not sure if this counts, but I'd love to live about 100 years in the future just to see how people are dealing with all our problems in the future.

If it's only in the past, I'd love to live during the Victorian Era in Britian just so I could see Britian industrialize.

Not to mention to see if Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House really hit the mark on relationships back then.

Truth to be told, there are many eras I would want to live in. I so wish I could pause time and jump around from century to century, decade to decade.

I don't think there's one time period I could settle on. I'd hop from the Romans- to the Colonials- to the hippie movement.

It would be so much fun to immerse myself in different cultures. Experience the popular music, clothes, food, literature, and what not.

Become a part of history. =)

I really love the idea of the 40s, WWII era. I know the war was terrible and all, but when I think of that time, I think of how... together the country seemed, working hand in hand to win the war, etc. It just seems like it would be nice to live in a time like that. Sure, propaganda and war and all that stuff, maybe not the best... but man oh man. To live in the time of FDR!

I also like the idea of the 20s. Flappers and jazz, oh my!

Anyway...I love this era. Computers, advanced medicine, etc are all stuff I couldn't live without.

If I had to live in the past I'd probably want it to be during the Renaissance when all sorts of new things were coming up.

My second choice would be medieval times but only if I was rich and could afford some luxuries. I think I would require that everyone in my house bath at least once a week. :)

well, all kinds of periods in history interest me. However, i know from history class that women were always repressed, although this degree of repression might not be as severe at times as others. So women did gain respect as leaders, but that was only for a select few, so i think, there's not time like the present. i would definitely not have as many opportunities as i have today at any other time in history.

I think the future will be really cool and at the rate we are gaining new information in the sciences and in technology I think in the next century or so there is going to be so many cool gadgets and stuff! like, I'm always reminded of that Disney channel show Phil of the Future with the time travel and the cool gadgets (like the portable donut making machine!). So yeah, i think living in that time period will be cool. thanks for the contest!!

I think I would love to go back and visit the 1920's with the bowler hats, cute short haircuts and the flapper dresses. I also like how the womens clothes, the style, was to wear looser clothes its looks comfortable. Its also the time where kids were excited about toys and fairs and they all grew up together. Now all we care about are video games and movies. It just seems like a nicer, easier life.

I loved this book, so i'm so hoping I win.

I'm not sure I could commit to any particular time frame--sure there are time periods that seem interesting and glamourous and exciting, but...you have to ask yourself: what will I have to wear? how are women treated? is hygiene deemed important?...and so many others.

So, I'm liking where I am now. :)

It's hard I guess, but I would want to live in the 1920's. Just the atmosphere that era left behind leaves a big impression on me: it's a time before the war where change occurred and new ideas were brought forth. New inventions, new innovations, and a sense of fulfillment.

The Renaissance era! It was so amazing not only because of the beginning of artistic and scientific discoveries, but also because it was an era of romance and chivalry. Sure, the diseases and lack of immunizations and cleanliness would suck, but the clothes would make up for it.
Oh, and with my curvy figure and (once) naturally pale skin, (I'm way too tan now,) I would have been considered a Class-A hottie!

The time period I would love to live in is the Medival Times. I don't know why, but I have always had a certain love of anything to do with the Medival Times. I think a lot of the draw is the whole princess thing! I mean really doesn't want to be a princess?? I also love how people treated each other. They were able to trust each other enough to have a barter system and all knew each other.

I guess because I was completely caught up in the romance of the movie Titanic, and also because I've always been fascinated with the story of the real Titanic, I would have to say I'd want to live in that time era- the 1910's. I would love to know what it's like on the Titanic. Also, that time period was so full of growth and innovation, at least for America. I think it would have been an exciting and challenging time through which to live.

I'm not really sure if this contest applies to people outside the US (I just moved to Israel), but I thought I would give it a try. :)
I don't really know what time period I would have liked to live in because there are so many different things that have happened, and there were good and bad things that happened in each of them. I wouldn't mind living the 90s again. I loved it :)
But, I think that all of us are so pampered, in a way, with all the things we have today that, if we went back, there would be lots and lots of adaptation to do.
I hope I can be considered for the contest :D

I absolutely love Jane Austen and her fab books. I think I would want to live in that time period. Sort of the Victorian Age with all the women in fancy dresses and the men being total gentlemen. The only bad parts are the corsets and the pressure to get a husband. But I could deal with that I suppose.

I agree with the class in the late 50s. Despite the contraversies, there are problems in every decade. The late fifties were classy, fun, and simple, and I think I could enjoy that emensly
