Win-It Wednesday: Go Ask Ogre
Last week's Betty Boop calendar winner is... drumroll... Nancy! Address, please, Miss N.
If you wanna know how I pick winners, I just generate a number here and I count myspace comments first. It's totally fair and equal. Promise.
This week, I'm giving away an autographed copy of one of the most visually riveting and emotionally compelling books e.v.e.r., Jolene Siana's Go Ask Ogre: Letters from a Deathrock Cutter. These are actual letters, drawings and dreams that Jolene sent to a member of the band Skinny Puppy when she was a teenager. You will end up adoring this girl, and wishing you could hang out with her, like I get to sometimes!
Jolene is on the left, I'm on the right. Do you love her bright lips or what? Such pout style.
Anyway, to win this autographed treasure, which has a lot of music references from the late 80s, I want you to tell me what your favorite album of 2007 was. Ready? Go!
PS-Thanks, SG, for the photo.

Hmmm, my favourite album of 2007 has got to be the Juno soundtrack. I know it barely made it in before 2008, but I completely adored the more acoustic-y songs and the childlike whim that surrounded them. Particularly "loose lips" by Kimya Dawson, of whom I was already a large fan.

Straylight Run's The Needles The Space. I saw Straylight Run back in June, the day before this album came out. Everybody at the show got to stay until midnight and get a free copy of the CD, plus autographs. Everything about that show was just amazing. Great great great music, ahhh. Love! :)

My favourite was Paramore's Riot.

Hm... toughy. Hairspray was amazing, no doubt about that. I have an odd love of MIKA. Taylor Swift has an amazing voice... but even though a ton of people hate it, I think my fave is the Across the Universe soundtrack. My newspaper teacher gave me it for Christmas and I'm addicted. It's always playing in my car-- If I couldn't have Paul and the rest of the gang singing to me on repeat, at least I have John's words...

I have lots but one of my favorite albums this year had to be Tegan and Sara's The Con. Their music is so different; it's so upbeat and new, I love it. Their lyrics are so creative and I can relate to them also. Back in Your Head was so cool!
What about you? What was YOUR favorite album? =]

I have to say I loved the Juno soundtrack. I hardly ever buy CDs for full price anymore, but I made an exception. (I usually hit up the previously used stores in my town to find stuff). Anyways, when I saw the movie a second time I defintely was singing along. :)

The Across the Universe soundtrack.
All Beatles covers but you can never get enough Beatles.
And the mod vibe they gave the tracks definitely had me listening to it for about five months.

I don't know...The Jonas Brothers were amazing, so is Paramore's Riot! and Across the Universe is amazing. Nevertheless, I simply have to say Infinity on High by Fall Out Boy. *sighs* I love that CD.

The Bluegrass Sessions by Merle Haggard. Simply awesome ... his best work in 5+ years.

Oh wow, this is really hard for me to choose!
A lot of people have been saying it, but I really loved the Across the Universe soundtrack as well. I think their actors and actresses did a fantastic job and Evan Rachel Wood is one of my favorite actresses.
I also really loved The Academy Is' album Santi. One of my favorite bands!
I must say this book looks fantastic and I need to check it out no matter what.
