Win-It Wednesday: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Who's excited for this movie, starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings?
I am! And even though we have to wait until October to see it, we can read the book (multiple times) in anticipation. Which is why if you comment over the next two weeks (until 1/2/08), you'll be entered for a chance to win an autographed copy of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Okay, so I didn't quite catch the elusive Rachel Cohn, but David Levithan (a.k.a. Nick) has graciously signed the book for one lucky winner.
So comment about whatever you like, but what I'd love to know is: What is your favorite movie adaptation of a book?
Happy Holidays!
PS-Sorry about the commercial. It's all MTV.

Fav movie adaptation - it's a toss up between the Harry Potter movies and Pride & Prejudice the BBC version.
Count me in for the contest - what fun! :-)

My favorite movie adaptation. Ouch, this is a hard one. I really liked The Lion, The Witch, & the Wardrobe, but I can't stop thinking that I'm being a traitor to one of my favorite movies ever -- A Walk to Remember.
I'll go with A Walk to Remember.
*fingers crossed*

I liked "The Notebook" a lot, actually. Maybe it's not the best, but it's certainly high up there. I also like "Gone with the Wind" and the FIRST TWO "Harry Potter" movies... all the rest take too many liberties with plot and characterization and make it not-so-good. (Just fine movies in their own right.)
I think it would be amazing to see VotR as a movie. Other top choices: "This Lullaby" by Sarah Dessen or "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson. It would be absolutely amazing if those became movies....

Well, my absolute fave would be A Series Of Unfortunate Events and HP and the globet of fire. They are both excellent movies.
I read your other blog post about how you love libraries and librarians. Lol I love libraries too. I was a student librarian in my primary school but they switch head librarians and the new one was all nasty and eventually I quit. I forgot the reason why but it wasn't that nice and I join drama. Tee hee.
But when I was much younger I would go to libraries every day after school. It was a habit, and last month one of our local libraries closed. :( And me and a few other people were given the opportunity to blog about the library, take pics, interview the staff and see how they work. Guess what? I'm the youngest. Hahaha. ;] We were also invited to the closing party and in fact on Christmas eve I'm invited to a lunch party. Cool huh?

My favorite would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy! I don't even like the books (I thought they dragged on far too long rambling about nothing important), but they're my favorite movies ever.
I'm looking forward to Nick & Norah! The book's fantastic--hopefully the movie will be, too.

This is a tough one, because there are so many great movies I've seen that are based off books. Hmm, I'd have to say the Lord of the Rings were the best adapted in my opinion. They included all the important aspects and the casting was awesome. (I'm not trying to copy joclyn up there, this is actually my opinion).
I can't wait for the movie either!!

Hmmm. I have to agree with Abbey in that I really loved The Notebook. Ahhh, such a sappy romantic am I!
As of late, I've been meaning to watch the Wuthering Heights movies, too, although Ralph Fiennes? He really doesn't strike me as Heathcliff. I'm more looking forward to seeing the 1939 adaptation.

I cannot wait for the movie.
The book was fucking awesome, and I loved every page of it.

I am abnormally, if not freakishly, excited for this movie because:
a. That was an amazing book
b. Michael Cera is my object of dorklust. :D
annyways.
my favorite movie adaptation would have to be either the harry potter series (except for the 5th movie :p) or High Fidelity. That was an amazing movie.
I think I'm going to go with High Fidelity, because I namely continue to see harry potter at midnight because of Rupert Grint.
wow. I sound ditzy XD

I usually don't like movies based on books, I just read the book.
However, "Speak" is definately my favorite based-on-book movie. Kristen Stewart did grate as Melinda, and they just captured the esense of the book.
"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" was a good movie too, even though I didn't really like the book.
I just can't wait until the "Twilight" movie comes out in 2010, sinse the books were capivating and utterly incredible!

Just went to the movies and saw Into The Wild. I actually liked it better than the book!
