Win-It Wednesday: Kissing Snowflakes!
As you can see from the blurry photo at left, Amber's name came out of the hat this week, so she wins the Clinique Superbalm lip gloss. Congratulations, Amber! Send me your address.
This week, I'm giving away an autographed copy of Kissing Snowflakes, Abby Sher's fantastic new novel about the totally friendable Sam, who's such a straightforward, relateable character that I wanted to spend my winter break in a ski lodge with her, trying to figure out divorce and first loves and how to ski. If I had a winter break, that is. Point being: You want this book.
So here's what to do to win the contest: Just leave a comment here or on myspace, telling me what the last book you bought was, and how you liked it.
I'm in a curious (nosy) mood. Good luck!

Ohmygosh Melissa!!!! I was looking for this book! Haha. it isn't avaliable here, yet. *Ends lame moment*
The last book I bought was Secret Santa by Sabrina James. It was worth every single cent I spend. I love how Ms. James make the book good by relating problems girls encounter. Like how she made Amber the Queen Bee (and backstabbing friend) and Shawna and Celia the followers.
It gets better when Noelle's secret santa gives her great gifts and she thinks it's from her crush Charlie. But it was someone else who she never expected! I can totally relate to Celia. Celia is torn between her "cool" best friends and the ordinary nice girls Lily and Noelle.
I love this book because it's a book where girls like me can totally relate to and Ms James set the scene in a high school.
Another book I bought was Angels on Sunset Boulevard by Melissa de la Cruz. I like it because she created the TAP.com like MySpace!! In the book, the characters visit this website called TAP.com short form for The Angels Practice. And it is some short of cult. The plot gets more exciting when teens who went to TAP parties disappear and a famous singer Johnny Silver goes missing just before he performed at his concert. Nick meets Taj who is Johnny's friend and together they team up to find Johnny and what is causing the kids to be missing. But Taj is more suspicious then she seems. I was really disappointed at the ending. I didn't expect it to end that way. But overall, it was great.
Sorry if I repeat the same thing and sorry if I'm not suppose to post what the book is about. I'm too excited. Ooh and I like your fingernail colors. Mine's black too with stars. I had it done for only $3 SGD.

Hey, Regina!
I love that you described the plots--that is above and beyond.
My nail polish is actually this deep purple that I'm into. One thing I love is that it seems black, but if you look closely, it's not. I like being tricky like that for people who pay attention. (But in that photo, yeah, it looks all black). Haha.
Thanks!
Melissa

The last book that I bought was author Jamie Denton's "Remain Silent." "Remain Silent" is one of the best romantic legal thrillers I've read. With strong evidence against her, Laurel Jennings is arrested in L.A. and charged with the murder of her art restoration business partner, Jonathan Linton. No other L.A. criminal defense attorney will take on her case except her ex-lover, former Los Angeles DA Damon Metcalf, who returns to L.A. to represent her. Laurel and Damon try to maintain a professional relationship but can't keep it just platonic for very long. They both find themselves in a lot of danger. This book is 5-stars --- very creatively written and full of suspense! I totally enjoyed this book and plan to get more copies to give as gifts to friends.

Before I Die by Jenny Downham. I loved it! And blogged about it too. :)

Oh dear...
I hope your question doesn't include books I had to buy for class, because as much as I like literature, the Bedford Reader just doesn't do it for me. LOL
The last book I bought of my own free will was Amy Tan's Saving Fish from Drowning, which is really an inspirational book, much like her others. When I read Tan's book, I couldn't help but compare it to the Life of Pi, and it's really gotten me interested in life, death, and other stuff beyond the reach of human expertise. When I told my friends how much I liked the classics now, they joked that if I wasn't careful I'd end up dissecting the Allegory of the Cave in my spare time. Bleh. I don't think I'd go that far though...

The last book I bought..."Violet on the Runway" by Melissa Walker. It's true!
Since then, I have used bookmooch.com to get Margaret Atwood's "The Blind Assassin." But that's mooching, not purchasing. So Violet it is.

I bought Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman...and I haven't gotten it yet!! Still waiting, and I'm so eager to read it. Oh, wait, I forgot, I just bought Eloisa James' An Affair at Christmas, and I've just gotten through the prologue. So far, I really like the imagery (it's set in Paris).
So this wasn't so very helpful, was it? :)
