Marketing Monday: Offer Content
I heard about Intern Memo over the summer, and since interns are usually college-age and still in the Young Adult demo, I thought they'd be a great audience for Violet on the Runway. I started reading the missives Intern Memo sent out, and a lot of them had good advice. Because I'd worked in magazines, I decided to offer them a few tips for landing an internship in the magazine world, and I interviewed magazine colleagues to get a variety of perspectives.
Last week, this issue of Intern Memo went out! They got a bit of content from me, and I hope a few more people heard about my first book. Win-win!
If you're an author, share your best promotion tip? If you're a reader, tell me how you usually hear about the books you check out!

I've been searching online for books lately, embarrassinbgly itunes for the most part. You can search and narrow by genre and then read decent-sized excerpts to get a feel for the book before you buy. (I've been cheating and listening to a lot of books on my ipod while I run.)
Visiting NYC with the kids this week--Museum of Natural History today. Reading trashy novel in the car on the drive up to the city from the in-laws in NJ. It is important to have some "escape" when you are visiting in-laws.
